Learn How to Sing Properly With Easy to Follow Tips

Correct your posture and learn to breathe properly. Stand tall with one foot slightly ahead of the other; feet should be shoulder length apart. This allows maximum lung capacity and easier breathing. Practicing scales as often as possible, with most coaches recommending 20 to 30 minutes per day when starting out, to help strengthen the muscles used for singing and in order to give you better control. To practice scales one must first identify their range in know how to find these notes that cover one's range on a piano or keyboard. One should then practice the major scale in every key moving down and up using vowel sounds. Once you have mastered the major scales, you can start working on the minor scales.

Other tips for better singing are to nourish your voice with water. Water does many wonderful things for a voice in addition to being essential for the body. The worst thing someone can do is drink orange juice or milk before singing because it makes the voice sound "blocked" by something; sugar coats a throat.

Bend over the back of the chair to find your powerful singing voice. Feel the "mask" of the face vibrating, this is your body's microphone and always try to place the tone in the mask of the face. The mask is the area around the nose, the top of the teeth and under the eyes.

Avoid nasal sounding singing from your diaphragm, if you feel you have a nasal sound tribe reading through your mouth and your nose at the same time. Avoid screaming when you sing. To avoid this raises soft palate - like when you are drinking through a straw or yawning - and place the tone in the mass of the face.
